This years 2017 Clinical Excellence Award ceremony, organized by Overlook’s Community Advisory Board, administration and medical staff, was held at the Primavera Regency in Stirling Tuesday evening May 9.
Clinical Oncologist, Dr. Charlesse Pondt, at Advanced Care Oncology and Hematology Associates of West Orange, was honored as a recipient of an Overlook Medical Center 2017 Clinical Excellence Award at the annual awards dinner ceremony. This award was earned as a reflection of the exceptional teamwork in building and operating a phenomenal patient centric outpatient clinic, where patients can get the same care from Atlantic Health System’s Overlook Medical Center in an outpatient setting. As Dr. Pondt accepted the award she said, the experience of having been chosen to receive the honor was “special” to her.
Dr. Pondt also applauded her mentor and founder of the ACOHA practice, Maithili Rao. “Dr. Rao’s vision, and attention to the minutest details and her ability to build people, processes and get things done, and be fair and patient-focused is second to none.” We see ourselves as the community-based oncology delivery arm of Atlantic. For those of you who know our practice, we are already at 4 locations – in Springfield, West Orange, Morristown, and Hackettstown, and have plans to continually grow. Maithili’s ability to think big and execute and be deliberate and responsive to patient needs is something all of us can learn. Dr. Pondt shared, “Maithili, you are an inspiration to all of us.”
Additionally, Dr. Pondt recognized Allison Acre, who worked tirelessly to build the lab and the lab partners, and obtain the state licensing for the lab, as well as Melissa Rivera who coordinated across functions to make sure patient care was not compromised as the construction of the new lab was completed.
Dr. Pondt concentrates on patient-focused care, and always makes time to confer with the nurses and staff to be sure patient needs are being met. Dr. Pondt clearly has no ‘off’ switch.
